Until its been properly diagnosed I would continue with the baytril you could also give the prosol ? the powder you had for your parrotlets Jan with will give him a vit and min boost

I am not sure what Silicosis.is but I guess its some kind of air sac lung infection, is he having problems breathing ?

Yes it's a lower respiratory tract infection. I would keep him on the Baytril until your able to get him to your vet. Your vet may want to take more aggressive action when he see's him depending if that is what he has. So sorry to hear he's sick Jan I hope he gets better soon.

Jan, does he have any other symptoms besides the runny droppings? I hope Drummer feels better soon with the Baytril.

I was wondering too Jan I hope everything is ok, I am a little confused as to what Drummer has because I know what Silicosis is. It used to be a miners disease and many many years ago it was a stone cutters disease.I went to look it up just to be sure and this is what I found.

Silicosis (also known as Potter's rot) is a form of occupational lung disease caused by inhalation of crystalline silica dust, and is marked by inflammation and scarring in forms of nodular lesions in the upper lobes of the lungs.

Silicosis (especially the acute form) is characterized by shortness of breath, fever, and cyanosis (bluish skin). It may often be misdiagnosed as pulmonary edema (fluid in the lungs),

Jan, I hope that drummer is doing better. It seems like these things always happen at the worst times. Hope that the weather cleared up enough for you to bring him in.

Hello everyone What terrible weather..
been snowed up for about 24 hours..

I managed to get to Cardiff on Monday with Drummer..
They are testing his poop.. cant remember what its for
but it takes 7 days before the results are back..
Its something Jeff and I could catch from him..also my
other birds. but all can be treated

But that aside.. he has had his nails cut..
But he has like hard sores on his feet..
the vet says they have been there for a long time..

He recons they are giving him pain.. so we have painkillers for him
also Baytrill and oitment for his feet..

This could have made him ill but not sure yet...
The vet recons he was kept in a very small cage
for a long while this is why he cant fly...there is no reason why
he cant just have to teach him...

He is very sorry for himself and sleeps a lot but otherwise
he is ok..
Fingers crossed with his test... have to phone in a weeks time
and take Drummer back in 3 weeks..

Wow what a bill I had... my husband recons he is worth his
weight in diamonds now
