Over the last couple of weeks I have had Jo Jo near Piper. They have become pretty good friends and spent a lot of time on Pipers cage since it's so big. They eat together and sit together. Piper is the follower and Jo Jo is the leader. Last night they spent there first night together in the flight cage and all went very well. They are going to be roommates now since the cage is plenty big enough for both of them. Piper was not a good eater of the fresh fruits veggies etc etc but now he sees Jo Jo eating it and has really became a good eater.

Thanks for sharing Bonnie. I never thought about housing these two birds together.

My daughter has a conure just like this. It's not working out too well with the 2 year old daughter. I have a cockatiel. I would love to take her conure, but didn't want another cage.

Did you just keep them side by side in their cages for a while?

Both of our birds are super tame, both females.

They were downstairs together in sight of each other and they could get to each others cage by going on the sofa. Piper the cockatiel would always go to Jo Jo's cage. I eventually started putting them on Piper's cage because he has the flight cage. They eventually started going in Pipers cage to eat. So last night they slept together and now they will be cage mates.

That's great Bonnie! and really it didn't take much time for them to get to this stage. They look so cute!!

Patty, I think the key here might be how docile the Green Cheek is. I know Jo Jo is a very sweet bird so there are no problems putting him in with Piper. Some Green Cheeks can be more aggressive and it might not be a good match :)

That is so cute, i am glad they get on so well together.
I am glad it worked for you , me myself have never had much luck with birds sharing, but it will depend on the induvidual birds and how sweet they are.

Yes Jo Jo is a real sweet heart so it worked out well. Piper has never but ever bit me so he's a very sweet little guy too.Jo wasn't always so sweet  when I first rescued him he was very cage territorial. A lot of time out of cage and lots of attention turned him into the little bird I knew he could be.

The green cheek is only a few months old, was hand fed, very spoiled. We're going to give her a little more time to see if it works out with my grand daughter, who is learning now that the bird might bite her if she gets too close. But, I would at least be willing to try her out with my cockatiel if she has to give her away.

Patty, I think that would be great to try to introduce them if your grand daughter can't keep the Green Cheek!!

I'm glad it's working out so well, Bonnie. Are you ever afraid JoJo will lose his bond with you? I've thought about putting Froggie and Quigley in the same cage, but I don't want them to ignore me!! :)

No not at all Laura, Jo Jo is 9 yrs old now and way too much of a mommies boy to change. As soon as his cage door is open he can hardly wait to get on my shoulder he immediately gives me a kiss to say hello
