Do parrotlets grab and hold food or small objects with one foot like larger parrots? Please reply only if you are 100% sure of the answer. yellow1 nod2

Yes I have seen pics of them doing this but it is not a common trait for parrotlets. |

On rare occasions they do. As Bonnie says, it's not really a parrotlet trait, but I've seen it once or twice. Our conures do it all the time & they're not really a big parrot, such as a Macaw or a Cockatoo, but they are bigger than p'lets (who isn't  ). |

I will reply if I am 100% sure or not ...... not all do I would guess the majority do not hold their food I have had five and none of them have held their food they will hold toys like big boy is doing though and I believe they will learn it if they see another Parrotlet or Parrot doing it. |

Thank you all for the answer. Bottom line is: they may not catch food, but catch some toys, like the one on the picture, very cute. A pocket parrot is something very cute. smug: past1 |

Bigboy will also play with a molted feather by holding it with his foot. 2.gif I can't believe how he can get a grip on it.

Some males talk quite a bit, but I've never heard of a female do anything other than make kissing noises. Anybody out there know of a female who talks? My male Parrotlet speaks in a clearer voice than my little Conures. |
