No telling the age on birds is really difficult. |

As the others have said, there's no way to really age a cockatiel after it's first molt, you may be able to tell if it's an "older" bird by this.................... "An older cockatiel would have a darker gray beak, feet that are sharp and uneven due to the scales on the feet being old. Numrous feathers falling out monthly and being almost scruffy." But I'm assuming it would have to be fairly old by the time these things show. As long as he's eating, chirping, not plucking, etc, I wouldn't worry too much about his age. Cockatiel's normally live 15 - 20 years or more & he's probably nowhere near that. 2.gif nodding   |

I know in African Greys you can tell a baby from an adult by the color of their eyes but that's about the extent of it. |

My female cockatiel is only 3 years old, but she's a lazy so and so! She will happily do nothing but sleep and eat all day, and has to be encouraged to fly when out of the cage! I do worry about her getting overweight and make sure she gets some exercise, but she's not keen. I guess this is how Dodos evolved!!! |
