We have just gotten back home from vacation ... on which, we visited the Vancouver Aquarium. And were excited (OK, really just the 1 of us) to discover that they have parrotlets in their Amazon exhibit. Never seen that before - seems like most people haven't even heard of them. Made me a little homesick for our little Jade though. These 2 were what we saw first: Posted Image We didn't see the parrotlets at first, except little green blurs zooming by overhead -- but no problem hearing their distinctive little voices! After we spotted them, they were pretty obvious. They had a few pairs, and even though they were smaller than almost everything else in there (including some of the butterflies!) there was no question who was running the place! Pics: Posted Image Posted Image Posted Image Those ones on the feeder were always the same pair - I never saw anyone else get anywhere near that feeder. I think they were living in it too, and we saw them chase away another male who got too close. Posted Image They aren't tame, so even though that guy came and sat on a fence just inches away from me, he didn't want to come over for a visit. I guess he just knew where the camera was!
