Hi everyone, here are some pictures of the surprise 2-4-1 special I received from the breeder. Jerry is the little guy on the right in all the pics except for the first one and my profile pic... there he is on the left. He is the baby with the deformed feet. Luckily he seems to manage just fine. In case you are wondering.... in most of the pics the boys are a little wet from water bottle training...lol. Thanks to everyone who gave me advice on training two birds at once. So far so good! :) |

What cute little guys!!!     Are they brothers, they seem to get along well. They just love those rope perches, my boy like tearing them up too, I have to buy a new one every few months drats Animals adapt much better than humans, I'm glad he's fine with his feet being as they are. Were they deformed at birth? |

Yes they are brothers. The breeder said Jerry was born like that. She was pretty sure no one would buy him the way he was and felt bad about separating them, so she asked me if I would take both. Sooooooo I did! lol |

Just talking about the rope perch, Boo Boo got her toe nail caught in a bit of the loose fibers! She got it out pretty quick & is fine but it just goes to show that if the perch is frayed it needs to be tossed as it can be dangerous :scared: :( :( |

Hi Rebecca, Have you given them a shower yet as their tails look a little grubby, What I do when mine get like that ( well not mine but the birds :) ) is to use a hand mister like the type for spraying plants, make sure its a new one though :). Put the water in the sprayer so its very hot, as when you mist the water will cool down a fair bit. Try it at first just to check then gently spray them. As there are two of them they will be able to clean each others heads as well. The good thing I find about spraying this way is that everything gets wets so with a quick wipe over the cage and all toys are cleaned in one go.... yeh so I am lazy  |

That's a good suggestion, Kev. I use hot water in a spray bottle too! :) |

The spray bottle is good as parrotlets don't "bathe" like our conures do!!! drats     They're lucky if they get the ends of their beaks wet, whereas the conures plunge right in       rofl rofl rofl rofl rofl Did the cage come with the birds Rebecca? It looks like it may be a bit rusty, rust is very toxic to parrots. If it is rusty you probably won't be able to clean it up well enough & may have to get a new one if you can afford it. I am looking for a new cage at the moment as my old one is going rusty & once the rust starts I've never been able to get rid of it completely  eek Anyway, how tame are they? Can you get them to step up onto your finger? Can Jerry grip with his feet? He seems quite happy in the photos, birds adapt very quickly     |
