Evvie my mountain parakeet keeps having funny turns!! It started early in the yearwhen his lady friend passed away, before she died we thought we were goig to loose him! But I put him in a carry cage next to Stevie the Cameleons tank ( I think the huge UV light helped him) and he made a full recovery.
Then 2 weeks ago he had another turn, it's almost like some kind of stroke or something. He puffs up and feels like he is going to die! I picked him up and thought he was going to die in my hands. But did the same again and he made a full recovery. And last night he did it again! What's going on with my poor boy!! I can't take him to the vets as mountain parakeets are soooo delicate and the smallest of stress can kill them!! And they at a species not much is known about them.
I will keep doing what I'm doing but the poor little guy! Twice in 2 weeks!! I'm just worried about him!!
He's still scruffy due to his self mutilation when the missus died ( I have mentioned don't know if you remember but he plucked out most of his feathers on one wing, and started plucking his chest which is now back but the wing is still bad so he can't fly but has plenty of climbing ropes/ ladder.

:( I'm so sorry to hear about your Evvie. I feel your pain. I have a Grey that I can't take out due to seizures.

Could he be having a seizure? Does he ball up his feet when this happens?

I know how you feel bakewell it is heartbreaking, Sky died in my hand it was awfull, i still she it now sometimes, i am not sure whether you can give birds anything for seizures but i suppose they is some medication out they, but if a vet visit is to stressfull for the little bird, i just hope he pulls through on his own.

I'm so sorry to hear about little Ewie. :(

When my little parrotlet had seizures, the vet said there isn't anything that can be done for them unless a cause is found, like metal poisoning. I hope he improves soon!

Have you tried putting a bird lamp (full spectrum) on his cage?

If it seems to help when he's by the chameleon tank maybe putting him under a lamp full time might help.
