The saying "You are what you eat" is so true....ESPECIALLY with birds!! I nearly rushed one of my Greys to the vet once due to red droppings. Turned out to be the red pellets in his food!

None of my birds poo look alike. They are all unique! giggle

Their poo is a very good indicator of illness as long as you know what is normal for them, with budgies they have two types the black and then a white bit attached to it. The black part is their poo and the white bit is their version of urine.

But as I have noticed with budgies, one birds poo is another birds food

Sky my hen will clean the cage in the mornings where they have pooed on the perches she will clean it off........... eek

With Parrotlets they all have different poos even if they are eating the same thing, so try not to worry too much as long as you feed him a good mixed diet, seed, vegs and fruits in that order he will be fine

It is scary but once you learn what's normal for Zooky, you'll feel better.

Also there are other indicators of health -- whether they are fluffed up and sleeping a lot. How vocal they are, etc, so don't worry too much about the poo unless it changes a lot.

Sky!! You're so gross, but you're helping your dad clean the cages!

i think because zooks poo changed so much after the calcium shots it made me worry, its not the same as it use to be.

yea zooky occasionally eats his....i think less now though, before it must have been coz he was low on calcium. it is gross though XD.
makes cleaning everything easier for you if the birds are helping =P XD

also zooky yells at everything...so im unsure if him making noise as a sign of illness would be any different from all the yelling he does now. hes incredibly vocal for a bird i read was suppose to be quiet XD.

he yells in the morning until we're out of bed, then if you dont oay him any attention in the cage he makes noise, if you let him out and he sees people/dogs/pidgeons/other birds he'l yell at them,he screech before he goes to sleep and then chitter while hes sleeping and if hes playing with toys hes yelling at those too. so...he makes alot of noise lol!!
not to mention if hes staring at his reflection he chiters alot. bless him.

Zooky sounds like a healthy little guy!! and he also sounds like a normal Parrotlet!! Spike is really loud for a Parrotlet too, so I know how you feel! :)

Sick birds are quiet. It's instinct for them since in the wild any noise would call attention to them and put them in danger.

definately glad zooky isnt the only loud one XD.
