Can anyone tell me what causes seizures in
parrotlets?
Is it down to the breeding?
Ive never questioned it before, but a lot
of our birds seem to suffer with it.

I'm not sure what causes it, try and keep there life stress free I would suggest. I had a mountain parakeet who suffered with them :-(

We had a little blue boy die because of seizures a few years ago. We had a full necropsy done and they couldn't find anything wrong with him, so we'll never know :(

THIS page might be useful in explaining why our pets sometimes suffer from seizures. It's not something I knew about before, but since reading that page it's clear now that one of my (late) budgies suffered a seizure on at least one occasion. I thought he'd died but on closer examination saw he was still breathing. I left him completely alone (not wanting to scare him unduly) and he made a full recovery within 5 minutes. A few years later we found him dead one morning, whether it was from another seizure we'll never know :(

Coco, my breeding celestial dilute hen has had a seizure while I was away last week, typical!!

Problem is she has 5 babies in the nest box; luckily male has been feeding them no problem; she seems
to be better now but she cannot fly very well and has problems perching. If I handle her she turns the head around, so sad to see her like this.

I hope she gets better

I hope Coco feels better soon! Poor little girl.

Has anyone heard whether Parrotlets are more prone to seizures than other parrots?
