at 9 am this morning i was sleepin when my mom woke me up. I thought we had to do a hike or something because we always get up early for hikes. she said "QS beans needs u he is really sick". one look at the face made me burst into tears. my dad found him at the bottom of the cage. get this every exotic bird vet was on vacation, so we drove and hour away to a emergency animal hospital, he is in a oxygen incubator and looks pretty good. he will be there for the night then tommorow we will take him to a vet that is an expert at birds

so sorry to hear this quiksilver, but great news that your dad was willing to rush him to the vets. i know how upsetting this is, but he is in the best care for him at the moment he is warm and on oxygen. when you see him tomorrow remember to tell the vet everything that has happened to beans in the last few days, whether he was playful, tired, or if his food was changed and if he's eaten anything different to what he normally does.you might even want to take a sample of his food with you. i will be and i suspect that a lot of people on here will be thinking of you and beans and hoping the best for you. kev |

Oh I hope he is okay. I bet he will be back to his cage in no time. I really hope he is going to be okay! Hang in there I will be hoping for you and Beans! :( |

thanks both of u, kev i went to the vet as well and told them everything. they think it he might of been overwhelmed when he went to the vet to get his nails trimmedand wed.causing him to eat but not drink, because they said he looks quite dehydrated. |

just the normal seed mix i got from the aviary, broccoli and carrots everyday, fruits and millet on the weekend. sometimes a boiled egg. |

i hope so to gail, i couldnt live with myself if i lost the lil guy from sickness, when he were on the carride to the vet he was chirping, not pleasent chirping more like in pain chirping, it breaks my heart. kev wat do u think goes wrong with birds, how come the go to the bottom of the cage |

QS...have you noticed any of his toys..does he have any with bells. The clapper thing in the bell..are they all in tact? They will have to determine why he's dehydrated...God...I know how you feel right now...hang in there ...we are all pulling for Beans.... |

It's usually not a good sign for birds to spend extended amounts of time on the bottom of their cages. Birds instictively like to stay high to be away from predators. Eveyone has said what I wanted to say but you can be assured you and Beans will be in my thoughts and in my prayers. ((HUGS)) :wub: |

thank-you everyone, well i just called to hear how he is doing, they say he is perched and not layin down like before, and he just watching them walk around. flapping his wings often, i think he might pull through
:) gail everything seems intact, the clapper on the bell on the boing is still there and thats the only bell, im just going to clean his cage completly right now |

Oh QS! I just found this thread. Poor little Beans!! I hope he's back to his normal self soon. I'm so happy to hear he's doing well at the vet right now!! We'll be thinking of you and Beans (Boo Boo too!) |
