I'm very concerned, torres just pooped BLOOD !!!!! its the first time he's done it, and then he went really dosil and quiet. angrey2 Within mins of it happening, torres wouldn't stop snuggling in my hair, trying to go to sleep. Then he eventually fell asleep on my fingers, next to my face. He was asleep for about 5 mins, and when he woke up, he's acting like nothing has happened, flying around, eating and playing just the same. There were no telling signs that torres was hurt, or un-well. Eating just the same, playing the same and not fluffed up, like you would expect. I'm not sure what's going on. and what i should do. I straight away thought, if he's lost blood, he'll need iron, so i've given him some carrot mixer, with some of his iodine block mixed in to help his emune system. But if its serious, i don't know where to go. i don't know where my vet is, or if they even care for bird's. Manchester (uk) is a big place, and i've not been here for long, so i don't know where i'm going :S help please angrey2 nod2 eek. |

are you sure it was blood and not red pepper or some thing from his food, also sometimes the minerals block will have bright red parches in them. if hes still up and awake, pick him up and check his vent for signs of blood If you can ring the vet in the morning or if you think it is serious ring now, I can only make a suggestion the decision is yours you have to make it. |

he might have eaten something red from the bottom of his cage, but it seemed alot like blood, as it was really watery and ran down my top. he seemed to really stran when he pooped. maybe he cut himself. i've checked his down below bits and there's nothing, its clean. he hasn't pooped again so i think i'll see if the next one is similuar. he's asleep at the moment, in my hair again. that vet is perfect i think, i just don't know where they are. if torres poops blood again, i'll call them, if not, i'll put him to bed to rest and pray hes ok :( |

You could take away his Beak Appetit for now and give him food without any possible color to it. Then watch and see what happens. I don't think it takes very long from when they eat the red food or the poop to appear red. This could be diagnostic, I think, just to rule out food being a cause. |

Iam also not trying to tell you how to look after torries, but he should have been in bed hours ago, don't let him boss you into letting him stay out of his cage until late at night, they do need their sleep.

for the last hour torres has been asleep in my hair, so i've put him to bed. just as he went into his cage, he pooped, and its was a normal dark green colour. it looked fine. but to be safe, i've took his beak appetit mix away and diluted abit of iodine into his water for over night. i'll change it tomorrow morning. I'll check up on torres in the morning to make sure he pooped ok, i'll be able to see from the bottome of his cage , as i just cleaned everything out in fear of it having something to do with the dirt. he seems quiet, but thats because he's tired, just pray to gad i'm not going to wake up to him, cold on the bottome of his cage. angrey2 |

:) thank you guys, I'm really glad i'm part of this forum, and there are people like you who love parrotlets as much as me. I greatful that you understand my distress and concern over torres. He's my little baby, and i'd hate to think i've done something to hurt him. Having you there to support me and give me advise is a real help. I'm unberlievably greatful, and thank you so much kev for helping me find a vet. I know that if the worst were to happen, you guys would understand what i'd be going though and possibly give me suport thanks again nod2 |

OMG...I just read this! I'm so sorry the little guy isn't feeling well...Sounds to me too like it's something he ate...Hopefully that's all it was. I know when my big guys eat something different or unusual, it always makes their poop look different...either consistancy or color... Please keep us posted.... |
